Beth + Jack's Music Hall Wedding Celebration

Beth + Jack were married on a gorgeous late summer day at Cincinnati’s Music Hall, one of our city’s most beautiful and historic places. Their invitation ensemble incorporates Music Hall’s Rose Window motif throughout the paper details - most strikingly on the cocktail napkins! Their gorgeous stationery features navy ink letterpressed into plush, ivory cotton stock embellished with gold foil accents. Art Deco inspired adornments such as the ornate borders and Rose Window detail appear in gold foil throughout the ensemble. Guests received a folded ceremony program on ivory stock with navy ink and drinks were served with celebratory cocktail napkins in gold, navy, and white. How did you and Jack meet?

We met through a dating app, Bumble. Our first date was in Washington Park at the beer garden, which was right across from my favorite building - Cincinnati Music Hall, where we ultimately got married!

Tell us about your wedding stationery vision incorporating the Music Hall element.

All credit to Kristen - she brought elegant touches that felt like they belonged to both the old and new styles of Music Hall. The combination of delicate script with "deco" sans serif felt like its own symphony! Our favorite element was her incorporation of the rose window from Music Hall into all the stationery elements - you can see it come to life across the invite, the escort cards, even the cocktail napkins!

How would you describe your wedding style and colors? What was the inspiration?

Our wedding colors were navy, gold, and ivory. We took a lot of inspiration from the history of Cincinnati, especially the Art Deco design found in the old downtown and OTR buildings, and from Music Hall itself. We wanted the colors and decor to complement the gorgeous venue spaces we had, like the beautiful marble floors of the Music Hall foyer where we had our reception and the stunning chandeliers in Corbett Tower for our ceremony. We leaned more into a modern Art Deco vibe, less so Great Gatsby.

Take us back through your wedding day.

Planning a wedding during COVID has a lot of stressors, and we also planned in less than 6 months from engagement. It felt like everything was a race to the finish, with changes happening up until the day of the wedding. It all came together beautifully though. Jack and I both got ready at the Hilton with our friends (separately), then we met at Music Hall for our First Look. We took photos just the two of us together across Music Hall, Washington Park, and Smale Park before returning to take family photos before the ceremony. We signed our ketubah (the Jewish wedding contract - a lovely small reception with close friends and family before the ceremony), then moved up to Corbett Tower for the reception. We were married by our Rabbi, Karen Thomashow, under a chuppah (bridal canopy) that Jack had built from trees on his family farm. While the rest of the guests were at cocktail hour on the 2nd floor balcony, we had the chance to just savor the moment together in a private reception space downstairs, and we got a surprise photo opportunity in the main auditorium (one of our favorites). We joined our guests for the reception in the foyer, and we had an amazing meal and late night dance party that didn't stop! We feel so lucky to have had our family and friends with us after such a tough year for everyone, and especially for those that could finally travel to see us.

Best part of wedding planning?

It was amazing to see how our vendors could take our vague descriptions and bring to life such a perfect execution of what we love! Planning a wedding is an overwhelming and daunting process, but having people we could trust made it feel more comfortable.
