Stefanie + Jonathan's Intimate Summer Celebration
Stefanie + Jonathan were married in an intimate ceremony at Plum Street Temple in Cincinnati with their dearest friends and family. Stefanie’s beautiful lace wedding dress was the starting point for the overall feel of the celebration. The leaf motif carried through all the details perfectly! Their invitations are classic with copper foil accents on thick cotton stock. Enclosure cards and programs featured the same delicate lace inspired motif in copper foil and mint green. Glenn Tatman captured photos from the day. Stationery photos by Poeme.
Tell us about your wedding day - take us back through it!
Our wedding day was pretty much perfect! We actually spent the morning together in our usual Saturday routine: coffee and reading on our front porch with the dog. My closest friends joined me at my parents house for bagels and champagne while a dear friend did my makeup.
Next my mom, Matron of Honor, Sydney, and I were off to get our hair done. Then we headed downtown! From there things moved pretty quickly, lots of pictures, our Ketubah signing, ceremony, and more pictures. It was HOT and of course we had to get a few obligatory cicada pictures! Finally, our small wedding of 40 people gathered at Trio for drinks, dinner and cake.
How did you and Jonathan meet?
Jonathan and I actually met at work! We both work for Crayons to Computers, a nonprofit organization that provides school supplies to teachers in the Greater Cincinnati Area. Technically, I was his supervisor to start :)
Tell us about the proposal.
The proposal was very sweet and simple! We spent a week at a lakehouse in North Carolina. It was October so we were watching a scary or Halloween-y movie each night. In the middle of watching The Addams Family, and after big bowls of ice cream, he paused the movie, got down on one knee, and proposed!
How would you describe your wedding style and colors? What was the inspiration behind your day?
We knew that we didn't want to wait until post-pandemic to have our wedding, and we also knew that it would likely be small to ensure that we kept everyone safe, so there wasn't a style or color scheme or theme that we really started with. A lot of it stemmed from the dress I found. It had a beautiful leaf overlay that led us into a Spring garden vibe.
Tell us about your wedding stationery vision and how it came together.
Working with Kristen on our stationery was so delightful! My mom had worked with her before, so it was a no-brainer to use Poeme again. We knew that we didn't want a traditional looking invitation. We wanted something unique and interesting, yet still classy. After our first meeting, we were headed in one direction with colors and after our second meeting we had completely changed the plan! Kristen worked with us to try out different colors and fonts, ultimately landing on a mint green and copper theme. I sent Kristen a picture of my dress and she created a leaf motif that matched the dress and it was PERFECT. She also created menus for us to use at our reception, in the same theme.
What did you learn over the course of planning your wedding?
Over the course of planning the wedding I learned that, for me, simplicity reigns! Knowing my wants and sticking to them also ended up being really important in the times that felt stressful. I ended up being so grateful for the opportunity to throw a small, intimate wedding with family and our closest friends. Truly memorable!
