Kristi + Nick's Intimate Summer Celebration

Kristi + Nick were married under a canopy of trees on a beautiful day in late August. As with so many 2020 couples, they were faced with the decision to either postpone their wedding or move forward with a smaller guest list and change of venue. An intimate backyard wedding at Nick’s parents home was the perfect solution. Family and friends who couldn’t attend were able to participate virtually and the day went off perfectly! Kristi knew she wanted greenery in her stationery and a design that could work in a variety of pieces including her bridal shower invitations. We incorporated watercolor bands of blush and silvery eucalyptus illustrations to create a beautiful cohesion. Shelby Street Photography captured the day. Stationery photography by Poeme.

How did you and Nick meet?

Nick and I met in Indiana. I grew up there. He was looking for a new job in golf industry and took the one offered at the golf resort I worked at. Before you knew it, we moved from small town Indiana to Florence Kentucky where he grew up and purchased our first home.

How did Nick propose?

Both of us are Chicago Cubs fans, Nick actually took me to my first game. We decided to travel to Pittsburg to watch the Cubs play the Pirates. Nick proposed on a rooftop in the evening overlooking the city.

How did you stationery vision come together?

I didn't think designing stationery would be so fun! I love greenery and loved the colors we chose for our wedding and it all came together perfectly in every aspect. The bridal shower invitations, our seating chart, place settings, everything tied together was beautiful! Kristin took my ideas and turned it into a very lovely design.

What was your experience planning your wedding?

Planning a wedding this year, as you can imagine, was interesting and at times, challenging. We had our venues picked out, they were both in Ohio, then everything shut down. No one knew what was going to happen. Once the state started to reopen, we continued planning. We sent out all the invitations and were very hopeful that everything would be back to normal in time for our wedding. Around the middle of July, we realized things really weren't getting any better. We made the decision to just have a small intimate wedding of just our family and a few close friends. My in-laws hosted the wedding and reception at their home. There was a facebook live set up for all our guests we had originally invited, so they could watch from home. Everyone was so understanding about our decision to change our plans.

How would you describe your wedding day?

Our wedding day was perfect. We were blessed with such a beautiful sunny day. Everyone involved in setting up did such an amazing job. It was an absolute dream. Even though our plans changed, it was the perfect wedding for us.
