Molly + Fritz's Fall Celebration at The View

Molly + Fritz were married on a gorgeous fall day at Cincinnati’s The View. They chose a rich color palette of toffee, copper, emerald, raspberry, and cream to transform the light filled, modern space into a romantic, fun, and unforgettable evening. Their invitation suite is classic with copper foil accents and a watercolor floral spray to incorporate the fall season. Wedding day photos by Natalie Folchi at Folchi Creative.

How would you describe the style of your wedding?

Our venue, The View, has a contemporary touch so we tried to highlight that aesthetic. We used mixed vases of flowers and tall tapered candles to create a modern dreamy atmosphere. We were married on November 6th and used the beautiful fall colors as our inspiration. Our palette contained rusts, creams, deep reds and greens so we included toffee roses, red ranunculus, green eucalyptus and baby’s breath in our decorations, arrangements, bouquets and boutonnieres.

Tell us about your wedding stationery vision.

Our invitation was traditional with a touch of modern. We incorporated copper letterpress, dusty flowers and greens to demonstrate the colors our guests would see on our wedding day. Even our envelope included the flowers our guests saw throughout our stationery. We also created a custom monogram that demonstrated our upcoming union as husband and wife.

Our seating chart, program and menu cards mimicked our invitation with copper touches, flowers and our monogram. We used our program to thank our guests and especially our parents for all they have done for us throughout our lives. We included our wedding party, minister, musician, and additional family members in our program to highlight our family and closest friends who mean so much to us.

Take us back through your wedding day.

Our wedding day was perfect. While my bridal party, mother and mother in law got ready at The View, Fritz and his groomsmen relaxed at our home in Prospect Hill. We had our first look on our deck at our home looking over Cincinnati. We popped champagne and talked as our wedding party looked down from a window above. We relaxed at our home and then made our way around town for pictures. We love the history of our neighborhood and stayed close by taking pictures on Von Seggern Alley (where we got engaged), Corporation Alley and Ziegler Park Lawn.

The fall foliage was lovely and we could not have asked for a more beautiful day. We arrived at The View and waited for our guests to arrive. We listened to our violinist play some of our favorite songs from The Beatles, Simon and Garfunkel, Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young and Talking Heads. Our bridal party entered to one of Fritz’s favorite melodies from Aphex Twin and we exited to Bobby Caldwell’s What You Won’t Do For Love. My brother, Joe, is the ultimate story teller and he married us under the large vintage chandelier at The View.

We played Wes Montgomery throughout our cocktail hour as we mixed and mingled with guests, sipped on cocktails and enjoyed delicious appetizers. As guests took their seats, we took a moment to ourselves in our bridal suite. We entered to our first dance and Fritz gave a toast welcoming everyone to the celebration. We had dinner and listened to lovely toasts from my father, Maid of Honor (sister), and Fritz’s Best Men. His friend Robert started the toast and then his Best Man popped up on a screen giving a surprise toast from Australia. After dinner, we hit the dance floor and never looked back. Our band, Brother Smith, kept everyone moving and the dance floor packed all night. We had cookies for our dessert and even a late night snack to keep everyone full as we danced. We exited to a surprise sparkler tunnel and hit the town with some of our friends and family. It was an absolute dream.

What elements/traditions did you incorporate to make it unique to your love story?

We both come from incredibly close families and incorporated a few elements and traditions to remember those who could and couldn’t be with us on our wedding day. My engagement ring includes diamonds from my maternal grandmother so I get to keep her close every day. I also wore my maternal grandmother’s pearls and my paternal grandmother’s fur stole. Fritz refurbished and wore his paternal grandfather’s gold watch and continues to wear the watch to this day. We displayed wedding pictures of our parents and grandparents and even played some of their wedding songs. Finally, we had a cookie bar instead of a cake to represent an Italian tradition passed down from my maternal grandfather.

Why was The View perfect for your celebration?

We were married at The View in Mt Adams which used to be the Celestial Steakhouse. The venue kept the iconic chandelier and it is the centerpiece of the venue. This venue has floor to ceiling windows allowing incredible natural light for a ceremony and a beautiful view of the Cincinnati skyline for dinner, drinks and dancing. All of these reasons plus the amazing food, incredible staff and coordinators, modern feel, contemporary touches, large dance floor, classy bar and outdoor terrace made The View more than a perfect venue for us.
