Sammie + Alex's Bell Event Centre Wedding
Postponing their wedding brought Sammie + Alex even closer in the months prior to their wedding, a sentiment we have heard from so many of our 2020 couples. Sammie’s vision of a romantic, candlelit ceremony and reception came together absolutely beautifully. The Bell Event Centre was transformed with lush florals, gold details, and warm accents of magenta and blush. Sammie’s original stationery vision incorporated watercolor florals, burgundy, and blush finished with an intricate lace fold over cover that was tied with a soft pink ribbon. Jessica Wiggins Photography captured the day. Stationery photos by Poeme.
How would you describe the overall style of your wedding?
I would say that our wedding style was very romantic. I envisioned TONS of flowers including big arrangements and floating candles and we had just that!
Tell us about you and Alex.
Alex & I met through my best friend's stepdad, Jeff. We met at a happy hour and a couple weeks later I finally asked if he was going to ask me out on a date already (haha)! We pretty much hit it off immediately. He is so charming, smart, funny, and the most caring man I could have ever dreamed of. Alex & I have a lot in common and we have the most fun together!
We love to travel, hang out with family and friends, and everything food! Postponing our wedding was a very hard situation but it made our relationship even stronger, and it made the moment he turned around at Eden Park on our wedding day even more special.
Did you have a strong idea for the design of your wedding stationery prior to your consultation?
When brainstorming what I wanted for our invitations I knew I wanted them to be very elegant and romantic, following the theme we had going on. I had seen the lace coverings before and had the vision in my head of using that. Poeme knew exactly what I was looking for! They brought my invitations to life by adding floral designs in my wine and blush wedding colors and topping it with the lace covering. We even added a bow to finish it off by tying everything together. They were truly beautiful! When we had to reschedule, Poeme helped us to create a "change of date" invitation following the same theme as our original invitations with the saying, "August is the new May".
How did you envision the stationery, flowers, cake, and decor working together to create a cohesive look?
I envisioned everything flowing together. From the flowers to the colors of our napkins and a lot of gold accents on our tables and centerpieces. We added flowers and a small gold detail to our wedding cake to help bring everything together.
What part of the stationery design process did you find most interesting?
The most interesting part for me was the design and the etiquette and creating the perfectly cohesive look! Alex & I loved every minute of planning our wedding day.
Best part of being married so far?
The best part of being married is simply that I get to be married to my best friend! Alex makes life so fun and we are such a great team together. We built a house in the spring and we are loving every minute of being newlyweds and making the house our forever home. I am so excited for our future and couldn't be happier with the life we are building together!
What part of wedding planning you find most challenging?
The most challenging was when we had to postpone but we got through it together and were able to safely celebrate with family and friends.
