Erin + Andrew's Colorful Summer Wedding at The Renaissance

Erin and Andrew were married on a gorgeous summer day filled plenty of fun moments in downtown Cincinnati including a bridal party trip down the slides at Smale Park! Erin’s vision of bright pink and coral bouquets paired with her blush wedding bridal party was a lovely contrast to the photographs taken by Carrs & Co under the historic, blue Roebling Bridge. Erin shares her wedding day reflections with us and how the day came together!

Tell us a little about you and Andrew

Andrew is originally from Dayton (only child, his parents still live in Dayton) and I grew up in Cincinnati, on the Westside (aka I come from a very big family with lots of family still living in Cincinnati, lol). It was overwhelming for him at first always having a family event to attend with me, but he now gets along so well with all of my family.

Andrew works in Finance for a small software company, I work in HR for a local CPG company. He handles the numbers, I handle the people issues.

We love having game nights with friends, trying out new restaurants and breweries in the area, and traveling. Even if it's quick weekend trips to visit friends in MI or Chicago; we love little (and big) getaways!

Tell us about your wedding stationery vision.

I always dreamed of having something classy and elegant looking, but also adding color and a little touch of fun flair to it!

Andrew and I both knew that we wanted our stationery to be a priority in our wedding planning as it would help set the tone for our wedding, being the first thing our guests would see before they arrive on our wedding day.

The amount of comments and messages I got after people received our stationery was so great to receive as it answered what we already knew was true: Poeme helped make our vision into a perfect reality!

How did you and Andrew meet?

We met at a young professional's networking event/conference, called Bold Fusion, back in 2015. They had a happy hour session towards the end of the day and he approached me as I was talking with another guy and introduced himself and essentially inserted himself in the conversation, and then eventually that guy left and Andrew and I talked for the rest of the evening, and the rest was history. Apparently, it pays off going to 'work' networking events, ha!

Tell us about the proposal.

We had been talking about engagement for some time so I thought it would be coming soon but couldn't figure out when because he would throw me off with his comments. lol It was Christmas morning and we had finished exchanging gifts, and I thought if he was going to propose then, he would propose as the last gift but instead that last gift ended up being AirPods. (I was still happy with them, lol)

About 5 minutes later he mentioned he had one more gift but it was too big to wrap so he had to get it out of his closet. He then told me to look away so he could get it out. I started to hear the sounds of a cart and thought he got me golf clubs as he is a big golfer and we always talk about golfing together. The sound of a cart rattling was getting closer to me and I even said aloud, "Andrew?...did you get me golf clubs?!" ..About 10 seconds later he said my name and told me to turn around, and he was down on one knee, with a ring in his hand, and thankfully no golf clubs.

What detail of the wedding did you focus on the most?

Oh this is a hard one! I would probably say the flowers. My florist was located in Indy so we had multiple calls and several emails back and forth where she helped take my vision I had in my head of a mixture of bright, beautiful flowers in coral, pink, orange, and white hues. I still remember the minute I saw my bouquet the morning of my wedding and immediately tearing up on how perfect it was.

How was your everyday style reflected in your wedding day or was it a departure from your usual style?

My everyday style was reflected pretty well by wanting color throughout the ceremony and reception for a fun and inviting environment, yet still carrying a traditional look by getting married in a church and reception in a ballroom at the Renaissance Hotel downtown. I also had gold throughout with our table settings to decorations, which is a staple color in our home. Relationships are so important to us.We had a large farmhouse-style head table that had all of our bridal party with their dates at our table to be around our closest people. It's always what I've been used to since I was young: sitting around a big table with those that mean so much to me.
