Classic and elegant with lots of lush garden beauty. Every detail of Ginger + Walker's romantic summer wedding is reminiscent of a perfect day, from the layered roses to the intricately formed dahlias and the heavy heads of the peony. Each offering their mystery and scent to the beautiful July celebration. Ginger joked that her guests brought the heat with them, traveling from Mississippi and Texas to celebrate two wonderful people who got to know each other over the basics of fishing. Nathan Peel Photography captured the day.

Tell us a little about you and Walker.

I grew up in Cincinnati but went to college in Dallas and have been there ever since. Walker grew up in Rolling Fork, Mississippi and moved to Dallas after graduating from University of Mississippi for a job. We both love to be outside but typically doing different activities. I am perfectly content sitting on a beach with a book in my hand or going on a run, and Walker loves to be out hunting. Cooking is something we love to do together and it's definitely Walker's favorite date night. We also both really enjoy music. Walker is always tracking down all of the good concerts for us to see. And, of course we love our pets: Stella our cat and Leon our new golden doodle.

Describe your wedding day.

It was such an amazing day. I had all of my bridesmaids over to my parents house to get ready. We did a lot of hair, makeup, and eating. My mom made an amazing lunch and it was so special to get ready in the house I grew up in. All of the guys got ready at the Cincinnati Country Club but started out with burgers at Terry's Turf Club.  It was a beautiful day, although, pretty warm for Cincinnati. Most of our guests were from Texas and Mississippi and I always say they brought the heat with them. Thankfully it cooled off enough for the cocktail hour by the golf course. One unique element to the evening was my parents wedding gift for us.

They had an artist at the reception capturing the gorgeous evening in an oil painting. It is something we will cherish forever.  After having a fantastic dinner and dancing the night away we of course had to end the evening with some Skyline Chili. We then had our getaway in the midst of a big thunderstorm in an awesome vintage car. Everything went perfectly. From the ceremony to the reception with all of the great food and music. We were so blessed by all of our family and friends being there with us and we give all the glory to our Lord.

Did your wedding match your personal style or did you incorporate elements from family, tradition or otherwise?

Yes, it definitely fit my personal style. It was a pretty classic and traditional wedding filled with beautiful flowers and fantastic food. The Cincinnati Country Cub is so elegant and beautiful. I thought it was a perfect venue for my wedding. We used peach/pink colors for the wedding which are some of my favorites. I loved getting to incorporate those colors through garden roses, dahlias, and peonies in the flower arrangements. They were gorgeous! Poeme did such an amazing job with the invitations, menu and everything in-between. They captured my style perfectly and I could not have been more pleased with how everything turned out.

How did you and Walker meet?

We met when we were both invited to a friend's ranch. He offered to teach me how to fish that weekend. He did an excellent job because I ended up catching a big fish (lucky for him it was a stocked pond)! Once we were back in Dallas he tracked me down and we have been together ever since.

Tell us about the proposal!

It was definitely a surprise! I knew we would be getting engaged soon, but Walker kept telling me it would not happen for a few months. The night of the engagement we had dinner plans with a group of friends, but we were going to stop by my brother's house before dinner for drinks. Walker had come over to my apartment to pick me up. I was running a little behind, so I asked him to feed my cat.

I hear Walker calling my name, so I walked into the kitchen and see Walker down on one knee, asking me to marry him. He had a ring in one hand and the cat food in the other with our cat climbing on his leg, meowing at him like crazy for her dinner. Between the cat and him on one knee I was very surprised. However, the surprises didn't stop there. We got to my brother's house and my sisters and many of our close friends were all there for a surprise engagement party. It was such an amazing night!

How did you find and decide on your dress?

My little sister Alissa got engaged less than a month after I did, so we were able to go wedding dress shopping together which made it a lot of fun. In one day, we went to five stores in Dallas with our other sister, sister-in-law, and mom. All day I couldn't stop thinking about the first dress I tried on--It was a winner!

Where did you honeymoon?

We went to Belize. We started in the jungle for the first half and went to the beach for the second half.
