Abigail + Roman’s Pink and Pink Rhinegeist Wedding

Abbey and Roman’s Rhinegeist wedding was all about embracing romance. Beautiful florals, a ceiling of cafe lights like stars and everything touched with a shade of pink. The industrial, exposed brick interior of Cincinnati’s Rhinegeist Brewery was juxtaposed with a beautiful hanging floral installation and floral chuppah. Long family style tables were set with gold cutlery, pink watercolor dinner menus, and low arrangements of frilly peony, bright magenta ranunculus, and pink roses.

The save the date features washes of bold magenta watercolor. The invitation suite features a simple modern monogram paired with a flourish script. Envelopes were addressed to guests in pink calligraphy that coordinated with the pink and white envelope liner and custom stamp.

A team of incredible vendors made this possible including Megan Noll Photography who shared these gorgeous photos with us.

What was your inspiration?

I wanted our wedding to really reflect our love for each other. Sometimes that is difficult to accomplish when I get caught up in all the little details of the wedding day. When we were planning our wedding, any detail that I was adding or taking away, I kept asking myself if that would reflect "us" and add to the romance of the event.

How would you describe your overall wedding style?

My wedding planners at Viva Bella described our vision as "industrial chic" which I really thought fit! But I would also say our wedding had a lot of romantic and whimsical additions to it- from the details on our invitations to the thousands of twinkling lights hanging over the pink and pink and pink floral designs.

Roman proposed on March 31, 2018. I was visiting him in Ohio for the weekend and he told me he had to go into the hospital early Saturday morning to see a patient. When I finally got up (after sleeping in much longer than Roman thought I would!), I saw a note on the mirror which was the first "clue" on a scavenger hunt across town! I knew immediately what was going on and it was so much fun! At every stop along the way, one of our dear friends would present me with my next clue. The hunt ended at our favorite hiking spot in Dayton, Ohio where Roman was patiently waiting to pop the question. It was such an exciting day!

What special touches did you incorporate?

Roman's side is Russian, so we had some fun additions to our wedding- namely the food! Roman insisted that we have plenty of food throughout our wedding event to appease all the guests. Having plenty to eat is part of all Russian parties  :) We also added a gelato cart by LaGrassa Gelato which was a huge hit! For my side, it was very important that the guests have lots of fun- which translated to an awesome band! We crashed a wedding in Cincinnati to preview our band before booking them and I am so glad we did. The Conspiracy Band was absolutely amazing!

Tell us the story of you and Roman.

Roman and I met at the hospital. He was a first year resident and I was a third year medical student. We were called to the trauma bay in the emergency room to assist with an incoming motorcycle accident. Luckily, the patient was doing fine and the overabundance of staff and help in the room left us with nothing to do but chat. However, we didn't run into each other again for several more months! And finally, with the assistance of the medical education secretary, we were set up on our first date. Our medical training has taken us all over the country the last several years and we have had to spend much of that time apart! But we still knew we wanted to be together forever.

While the guests were dancing and mingling at the bar, fruit and cheese was served alongside sliced wedding cake. The wedding cake by Maribelle Cakery was so yummy- orange blossom with strawberries and cream and white chocolate with Madagascar vanilla bean!

Tell us about your menu.

Our wedding menu was so fun to plan with the team at Funky's Catering. Chef Michael is very talented. We requested several small family style courses followed by a plated dinner and finished off with cheese and fruit. We started our event off with cocktail hour and passed hors d’oeuvres- the guests really likes having a little something in their tummies before our ceremony. The dinner event started with local assorted breads and charcuterie boards. Next we served caprice salads followed by Italian wedding soup (my favorite course!), then a dual pasta course and finally the plated dinner of beef tenderloin topped with prawns. Everything was absolutely delicious. While the guests were dancing and mingling at the bar, fruit and cheese was served alongside sliced wedding cake. The wedding cake by Maribelle Cakery was so yummy- orange blossom with strawberries and cream and white chocolate with Madagascar vanilla bean! And of course we can’t forget the scrumptious gelato- creme brûlée, banana rum, choco-almond, and zabaglione. The food was a major hit at our wedding :)
